Career Summary & Goals
I have three passions: reading, writing, and helping others tell their stories. I have spent my twenty-year career doing just
that. As an independent creative, I hope to share my writing, editing, teaching, and content creation expertise with others
to help them achieve their desired results. I offer a host of problem-solving, creative storytelling, content creation,
branding and writing assistance services.
Content Curation Experience
Innovation Curator, Xavier University Center for Innovation (CFI) November 2014-April 2016
As the Innovation Curator for the new Xavier University CFI, I worked with the university and CFI partners to execute the
launch of the center as well as its website, blogs, social media, public relations and print strategies as well as several
successful national media campaigns, while directing content and thought-leadership strategies for the University Provost
and the Chief Innovation Officer. In addition to these duties, I taught a branding and storytelling program as well as
Design Thinking, and served as a branding consultant to CFI clients.
Marketing Manager, Xavier University Leadership Center (XLC) March 2012-November 2014
While with XLC I managed all XLC marketing communications (web content, social media campaigns, emails, press
releases, brochures, ads, and catalogs). I also wrote original articles on professional development and leadership skills for
the Xavier Leadership Center; and managed special projects and events that support the Xavier Leadership Center team.
Editor, Franciscan Media April 2002- March 2012
For nearly a decade I served as an editor, writer, copywriter and project manager for an international nonprofit press.
Responsibilities included, but were not limited to: acquiring, editing, researching, fact-checking, copyediting, and
proofreading book manuscripts (up to 10 per season); assisting authors with the writing of their books; acquiring titles and
developing new products; writing back cover copy for books edited; evaluating book queries and submissions, initiating
and shepherding titling, design, and production process of each book; working with authors, freelancers, and designers
throughout book production process. As a specialist in marketing and public relations, I was also responsible for
developing products and book concepts based on target demographic research, while helping marketing to create
promotional material and catalog copy as well as working with designers and professional photographers for book cover
shoots.
Senior Sales Writer, Life Care Event Management June 2002 - February 2002
I was a promotional and editorial writer for the marketing department of a work/life services innovator. Writing
assignments include formal responses to requests for proposals (RFPs), standard sales and promotional materials, internal
and external newsletters, correspondence and web content. Position demanded response to tight deadlines, ability to
work closely with experts, upper management, sales team members, various vendors, and corporate partners, while
balancing several projects simultaneously.
Corporate Sales Writer, Cartus June 2000- June 2002
As a sales writer, I performed extensive research methods and exercised writing skills and editing practices, while working
under tight deadlines as a corporate writer in a Fortune 500 corporation. Worked closely with experts, upper management
and sales team members to write, edit, and produce marketing and sales proposals, presentations and publications.
