Reference for Ms Gladys Aquino
At the Institute for Respiratory Health (the Institute), we aim to improve the life of everyone
living with a respiratory condition. We aim to do this by bringing together world class
researchers and dedicated clinicians to investigate, diagnose, treat and prevent
respiratory conditions. We conduct and foster innovative basic and clinical research and
translate our work into improved treatments for people with respiratory conditions. We
think outside the box and we get results. We campaign for an increased awareness and
investment in respiratory education and research. We focus on real people and our work
gives hope for a better future to those with respiratory disease.
The Institute in collaboration with Curtin University’s Industry Connect hosted an internship
program in 2016. Gladys was selected to complete an internship that focused on creating
a business case and strategic marketing plan for the Institute’s Wellness Program. This
required Gladys to:
1. Complete a competitor analysis;
2. Research and define the target market;
3. Develop the program market orientation;
4. Generate a variety of 3 year financial models; and
5. State preferred recommendations on how the program is to progress forward
Throughout her time with the Institute on this project, Gladys demonstrated enthusiasm
and commitment. She was willing to take feedback on board and apply new learnings to
