muscle mass
◦ Muscle tissue is glucose greedy = the more you have, the
more energy you will burn 24/7
2. Cardio
activates mainly
muscle type I
◦ This burns mainly fat in the blood stream (good, but you
can do better)
3. Resistance
training activates
muscle types II a, ab
& b in addition to
type I
◦ These burn a higher percentage of glycogen (stored
glucose) in the blood stream compared to cardio = this will
be replaced from fat stores (unless you’re eating carbs) =
you continue to burn
4. The use of
muscle types II a-b
stimulates an
adrenalin response
◦ The adrenalin signals for fatty acids (from stored fat) to be
released into the blood stream = for several hours after
ending the exercise your body is replenishing those stores
by releasing stored fat = you continue to burn
5. Resistance
training puts excess
fat into the blood
stream
◦ Your metabolism won’t slow down so much after you
finish exercising = you continue to burn
