10. THE BROTHER: MICK SUTCLIFFE
MICK SUTCLIFFE told the Telegraph & Argus: “It is the
right decision. He knows he will never be coming out. For
his own protection, he’s better off inside. He will have
expected this decision.”
11. THE BROTHER: CARL SUTCLIFFE
“Growing up with Peter…he was a really nice guy. He being so much
older than me, he was more like a father figure as my dad was never
around. He was either working or out at the pub or doing sports events.
And Pete used to teach me things that a father should really, so he was a
great big brother.” Carl Sutcliffe

13. Sonia and their Marriage
The couple was known for having quite a “toxic” relationship I
the sense it was the classic story of them not being able to
live with or without each other.
“She would go out of her way to embarrass him in front of
his family by shouting at him for things he had said that
she didn’t agree with, this would often make his father
ashamed and embarrassed.”
14. Sonia
Very controlling of Peter
Was somewhat of a recluse,
didn’t often go outside and if she
did it was with Peter
Suffered from
schizophrenia
Was not able to conceive a
baby
Was emitted into hospital

18. Did She know? - YES
It is still not fully clear whether Sonia knew about the murders that her
husband was committing, although she was cleared and the police deemed
that she was innocent and was not aware of the murderers the fact that she
lived so closely with Peter suggests oterwise.
19. Did She know? - NO
Her schizophrenia was simply taken advantage of.
Editor's Notes
Bingley > West Yorkshire, working class family.
Religious > He was brought up as catholic by his family.
"Loner" > He was called a loner and seen to be very shy from a very young age; often described as a loner, people would notice how he spent most of his time daydreaming at blank walls. Peter hated school. He found it hard to make friends and was often bullied. Once, unable to take any more, he hid from school for a fortnight. When his parents and school realised the reason, they stopped the bullying. He left school at the age of 15 and started working.
The Household > The household that peter was brought up in wasn't the best place for an introspective child. The atmosphere was filled with sex and infidelity.
