This document discusses 4 branches of research into the nature of knowledge: theological, metaphysical, positivism, and post-positivism. Theological research examines the divine existing in physical, supernatural, mental or social realities. Metaphysical research examines fundamental concepts and beliefs. Positivism holds that scientific theories must be empirically verified. Post-positivism recognizes that all theories are general and incomplete, and that knowledge is constructed by individuals who perceive multiple possible realities and truths.
