This document summarizes a study on the implications of materialism on psychological well-being. The study examined how materialism negatively impacts need satisfaction and subjective well-being by undermining basic psychological needs. It hypothesized that materialism is negatively linked to need satisfaction and positively well-being. The methodology involved surveying 425 participants using instruments to measure materialism, need satisfaction, and well-being. The results supported that materialism is negatively associated with need satisfaction and well-being, as focusing on extrinsic goals does not lead to happiness.
