This design specification document outlines a device that uses an adjustable arm band with multiple LEDs and detectors to monitor blood oxygen levels. It will use two pulse oximeters simultaneously, one to get a baseline reading and the other to identify crises. Preliminary testing proved this dual method viable. The device also aims to recreate vaso-occlusion conditions by slowing blood flow to extremities, and will assign pain levels from 1 to 10 based on numerical readings from the device.

2. Benefits of a Multiple LED system
• Produces more light which allows detector to
see dark spots better
• Even if the crisis occurs outside of the
emitance of the LED, our detectors can
identify a crisis

3. Technique
• We will use two pulse oximeters

while simultaneously attempting to identify a
crisis
• Preliminary testing has proven this method to
be viable

4. Recreating a vaso-occlusion
• Vaso-occlusion causes less blood to reach
tissue
• We were able to slow blood flow to the
extremities using a sphygmomanometer
