This document discusses reported or indirect speech, which is used to retell something someone said in the past. Reported speech is used to tell others what someone has said previously, report what other people say, think or believe, or report what was said. It can involve changing the tenses of the original statement being reported. An example is provided where direct speech "WHAT!" is reported as indirect speech.
