Report Writing
A report is usually a self narrative of an event or occasion that has happened in the past or is
currently happening. For report writing you need to have sufficient supportive evidences to tell
readers about the different aspects of the events you are covering. It is not just the main event,
but many other events happening around that you have to keenly observe. For Example, if you
are reporting about a Cricket Match, you need to start telling everything from the players, to the
game statistics, to the weather conditions, the pitch state and the amount of people attending the
match. It involves writing about everything; from the central or main event to the minute details
surrounding it.
For a Report writing to be effective, you have to first start off with a catchy title, and then move
on to a summary of your main points. Then start with introducing your topic or the event you are
writing about. If you are suing any new term you have to explain its meanings, also with the
explanation of the background of the occasion. The main section or Body of your report should
include main points only. You can divide it in several small subsections with titles. At the end,
finish off with a conclusion about your writing.
Report Writing should be done with simple and clear terms which are understandable by all.
Communicate or engage with the readers at a personal level. Every word used should direct to
the original purpose of the report. Use active voice for smoother writing. Also, make sure to
review your writing, as any grammar or punctuation error can not only be unflattering, but also
give a very bad impression overall. Good communication is a key essential in such pieces of
writing, so make sure you use it very well.
