Replacement of Vicarage: St Columb’s Anglican Church,
Hawthorn; Feb 2013 to Nov 2014
Project Objective: to sell an existing Vicarage and replace it with a property
more suited to the requirements of both the Parish and the Anglican Diocese
of Melbourne.
My understanding of, and relationship with, the Anglican Diocese of
Melbourne was key to presenting a successful application on behalf of the
Parish to relevant committees of the Diocese for their approval. I regularly
communicated with the Diocese, Parish Council and their Property Search
Subcommittee so that all policy, process, approvals and financial obligations
were met prior to bidding at auction. I stepped back from being involved with
the project, leaving the Parish Council well prepared, advised and positioned
to complete the process and purchase of a new property.
Learning Outcomes: it was beneficial to pause and review progress at key
stages so that people involved in the project (each with differing views) were
able to ask questions of clarification, offer feedback and discuss alternative
ways of achieving the objective.
