GalDesal desalination process is using renewable energy in the form of waves energy instead of traditional electricity. In addition, the process is off-shore, thus eliminating salt on shore.
Webinar - Wind Powered Industrial Process : Seawater DesalinationLeonardo ENERGY
Already today wind power offers low and long-term stable costs of energy and therefore is able to compete with large scale conventional power generation. Using wind power directly for energy intensive industrial processes requires an optimized hybrid configuration as well as a balanced load and/or energy management. The technical and economical specifics for wind powered seawater desalination (RO) as a completely integrated solution are presented and emphasize its capability and potential to be implemented in medium and large scale within the next few years.
The technology to desalinate seawater by wind power focuses on the continuous adaptation of the membrane process to the current wind power generation (load management) what results in variable operation parameters. The wind energy share directly usable for the process (wind penetration) in a wind-desalination subgrid constellation will be influenced by many aspects:
• Installed capacities (desalination, wind turbine, potable water storage)
• Integrated management systems (load, energy & storage)
• Resource scenarios (wind)
• Demand scenarios (water)
Dependent on the installed wind power capacity three classes can be defined:
• Desalination with wind power support (low penetration)
• Wind powered desalination (medium/ high penetration)
• Wind power project with coupled desalination (high penetration)
The economic viability/application areas will be presented by the Levelized Water Cost (LWC) for typical plant configurations and relevant parameter variations. Since conventional grid power is intended to be replaced by wind power the grid tariff is the significant criteria for the economic viability/application areas of wind powered vs. conventional processing. High grid tariffs (together with low feed-in compensation) may economically rectify the installation of extended desalination capacities.

He has substantial work experience of product development, planning/consulting, project development and turn-key implementations within the fields of steel and plant constructions of conventional power plants and renewable energy systems.
Robert Pohl, mechanical engineer/mechatronics. He has research and development experience of product development of wind powered reverse osmosis and prepares a related PhD-thesis.
Hadi Sader, mechanical engineer and MSc. in renewable energies. He has research and work experience of product and project development and training in renewable energies and wind power applications.
The document discusses desalination as a solution to fresh water scarcity. It explains that most of Earth's water is undrinkable saltwater in oceans, and desalination uses technologies like thermal evaporation or reverse osmosis to remove salt from seawater, producing fresh water. Common desalination methods heat saltwater to evaporation or force it through membrane filters at high pressure. While desalination addresses the growing problem of water scarcity, the processes require a lot of energy and infrastructure, making desalination an expensive solution.
Water from Salt: GE's Global Challenge to Find Renewable Energy Solutions for...GE
Water availability and security is one of the biggest challenges facing the world today. The sea provides an abundance of water, but to be usable, it must be desalinated. 300 million people benefit daily from desalination, but uses a massive amount of electricity.
GE ecomagination and Wa'ed, Saudi Aramco's entrepreneurship center, have launched a global open innovation challenge to find more sustainable solutions for seawater desalination.

Product Design Trends in 2024 | Teenage EngineeringsPixeldarts
The realm of product design is a constantly changing environment where technology and style intersect. Every year introduces fresh challenges and exciting trends that mold the future of this captivating art form. In this piece, we delve into the significant trends set to influence the look and functionality of product design in the year 2024.
How Race, Age and Gender Shape Attitudes Towards Mental HealthThinkNow
Mental health has been in the news quite a bit lately. Dozens of U.S. states are currently suing Meta for contributing to the youth mental health crisis by inserting addictive features into their products, while the U.S. Surgeon General is touring the nation to bring awareness to the growing epidemic of loneliness and isolation. The country has endured periods of low national morale, such as in the 1970s when high inflation and the energy crisis worsened public sentiment following the Vietnam War. The current mood, however, feels different. Gallup recently reported that national mental health is at an all-time low, with few bright spots to lift spirits.
To better understand how Americans are feeling and their attitudes towards mental health in general, ThinkNow conducted a nationally representative quantitative survey of 1,500 respondents and found some interesting differences among ethnic, age and gender groups.
Technology
For example, 52% agree that technology and social media have a negative impact on mental health, but when broken out by race, 61% of Whites felt technology had a negative effect, and only 48% of Hispanics thought it did.
While technology has helped us keep in touch with friends and family in faraway places, it appears to have degraded our ability to connect in person. Staying connected online is a double-edged sword since the same news feed that brings us pictures of the grandkids and fluffy kittens also feeds us news about the wars in Israel and Ukraine, the dysfunction in Washington, the latest mass shooting and the climate crisis.
Hispanics may have a built-in defense against the isolation technology breeds, owing to their large, multigenerational households, strong social support systems, and tendency to use social media to stay connected with relatives abroad.
Age and Gender
When asked how individuals rate their mental health, men rate it higher than women by 11 percentage points, and Baby Boomers rank it highest at 83%, saying it’s good or excellent vs. 57% of Gen Z saying the same.
Gen Z spends the most amount of time on social media, so the notion that social media negatively affects mental health appears to be correlated. Unfortunately, Gen Z is also the generation that’s least comfortable discussing mental health concerns with healthcare professionals. Only 40% of them state they’re comfortable discussing their issues with a professional compared to 60% of Millennials and 65% of Boomers.
Race Affects Attitudes
As seen in previous research conducted by ThinkNow, Asian Americans lag other groups when it comes to awareness of mental health issues. Twenty-four percent of Asian Americans believe that having a mental health issue is a sign of weakness compared to the 16% average for all groups. Asians are also considerably less likely to be aware of mental health services in their communities (42% vs. 55%) and most likely to seek out information on social media (51% vs. 35%).
AI Trends in Creative Operations 2024 by Artwork Flow.pdfmarketingartwork
Creative operations teams expect increased AI use in 2024. Currently, over half of tasks are not AI-enabled, but this is expected to decrease in the coming year. ChatGPT is the most popular AI tool currently. Business leaders are more actively exploring AI benefits than individual contributors. Most respondents do not believe AI will impact workforce size in 2024. However, some inhibitions still exist around AI accuracy and lack of understanding. Creatives primarily want to use AI to save time on mundane tasks and boost productivity.
Organizational culture includes values, norms, systems, symbols, language, assumptions, beliefs, and habits that influence employee behaviors and how people interpret those behaviors. It is important because culture can help or hinder a company's success. Some key aspects of Netflix's culture that help it achieve results include hiring smartly so every position has stars, focusing on attitude over just aptitude, and having a strict policy against peacocks, whiners, and jerks.

Google's Just Not That Into You: Understanding Core Updates & Search IntentLily Ray
1. Core updates from Google periodically change how its algorithms assess and rank websites and pages. This can impact rankings through shifts in user intent, site quality issues being caught up to, world events influencing queries, and overhauls to search like the E-A-T framework.
2. There are many possible user intents beyond just transactional, navigational and informational. Identifying intent shifts is important during core updates. Sites may need to optimize for new intents through different content types and sections.
3. Responding effectively to core updates requires analyzing "before and after" data to understand changes, identifying new intents or page types, and ensuring content matches appropriate intents across video, images, knowledge graphs and more.

5. Why Choose Wind for Water Treatment?
Why choose wind:
Electricity demand for water desalination is said to
raise by...
300% btw. 2007 and 2030 in the MENA region (IRENA)
9% globally p.a. during the next years (IRENA)
Main regions for water desalination are MENA, USA,
with India and China increasing in importance. All of
these regions have RES-E targets, many rely on
electricity or Diesel import.
1 m3 classically requires 2-2,5 kWh (in case of
reverse osmosis) or 1-2 l Diesel. If at a cost of 1 USD
per liter as in many geographies, 1 m3 costs 1-1.5
USD in energy vs. 0.3-0.5 USD if ran by NPS 100 (@
wind speed of 6m/s, before financing and taxes)
If combined with Solar PV, wind power allows for
constant power supply both day and night, summer
and winter
Desalination can substitute costly storage often
required with fluctuating RES-E: Desalinated water
itself can be stored (i.e. produced in alignment with
RES-E fluctuation)
On-site distributed wind brings significant value to an
on-site energy mix, and can complimented with
energy storage to help absorb excess electricity to be
dispatched on site during times of high demand when
wind may not be blowing.

Introducing NPS 100, the optimal sized wind turbine
Ease of Integration – our wind turbines are designed to be
“inverter-connected” and easily integrated through advanced
power electronics into the overall balance of system
architecture
Increased Annual Energy Production (AEP) – Our PMDD
technology maximizes energy capture, outperforms
conventional gearbox designs, and reduces maintenance
costs
Perfect Size – the NPS 100 wind turbine requires a small
footprint in order to be integrated into any desalination or
water treatment project. Its low height profile (< 50 m) and
quiet operation ease permitting processes
Easy transportation: 2 12m containers include all parts of a
NPS 100 and are thus easily transported and installed to and
at most sites

7. Case Study: Water Treatment and Wind in Germany
7
100 kW size allows for modular sizing of the power plant in dependence of local power prices,
capital situation of the operator and risk appetite
Up to 95% of self-consumed wind power can be consumed directly for this specific researched
case if 2 turbines are installed. This does not require any storage nor controls and offers for
each kWh the value of the retail price / kWh incl. all taxes and charges, in Germany above 20
EUR-cents / kWh. Depending the country, the excess power can be fed into the grid either for
a Feed-in tariff OR for a Premium Feed-in OR for the normal wholesale power price
While 1-3 x NPS 100 «only» cover 20%-50% of total power consumption at the investigated
site during the course of a year, a larger project would yield more excess power to the grid
having lower value than offset power demand from the grid
Adding Solar could increase the share of RES-E as part of the complete load dramatically

8. Wind + Solar = Constant Power Supply
Reliable Power Supply – by combining wind and solar PV allows for
constant power supply both day and night, summer and winter
Increased System Capacity Factor – the overall water treatment
facility’s capacity factor is increased to meet overall site requirements and
maximize site performance
Increased System Annual Energy Production (AEP) – together wind
and solar complement each other by reducing times of intermittency and
maximizing AEP
