2.  ‘Religious thriller’ is a pulse-pounding mystery, conspiracy or quest that
uses religious artefacts, secrets or clergy at the core of the story.
 Key features include: nuns, priests, demons/devils/dark supernatural forces,
exorcisms, religious props ( crucifix, holy water, etc...), religious buildings (
churches, graveyards, the Vatican)

Plot:
The film concerns a young child
adopted at birth by American
Ambassador Robert Thorn
unbeknownst to his wife, after
their own son is stillborn. They
are surrounded by mysterious
and ominous deaths, unaware
that the child is the Antichrist.
The Omen received
acclaim from critics and
was a commercial
success, grossing over
$60 million at the box
office and becoming one
of the highest-grossing
films of 1976.

Damien: Omen II,
two years later

4. The book, inspired by the
1949 exorcism of Roland Doe, deals with
the demonic possession of a 12-year-old girl and
her mother's attempts to win back her child
through an exorcism conducted by two priests.
Many strange happenings
occurred on set leading the
director to call in a priest to
bless the set.
The film experienced a troubled production;
even in the beginning, several prestigious film
directors including Stanley
Kubrick and Arthur Penn turned it down.
Incidents, such as the toddler son of one of
the main actors being hit by a motorbike and
hospitalized, attracted claims that the set was
'cursed’.

5.  Religious thrillers contain supernatural themes and various jump scares
throughout the movie this kind of thrill seeking is usually accompanied by an
audience of teens.
 However, some religious thrillers may be really violent or frightening such as
the exorcism and display behaviour by teens in the movie which may lead to a
higher age certificate of 18 years old.
