The Registered Environmental Health Specialist/Registered Sanitarian (REHS/RS) credential ensures individuals have the skills and competencies to protect communities' environmental health. REHS/RS professionals work in local, state, and federal agencies as well as private industry to inspect facilities and systems, conduct investigations, ensure compliance with regulations, educate the public, and respond to emergencies. Obtaining the REHS/RS credential demonstrates an individual's expertise in six core content areas of environmental health and assures communities they are utilizing best practices to maintain clean air, safe food and water, and comply with regulations.
