In order to provide business leaders and companies with a up-to-the-minute
barometer of their peers’ confidence and outlook for the coming year the Regus
Business Confidence Index Report analysed the opinions of over 16,000 business
managers and business owners from 86 countries. In addition to enquiring about
revenues and profits over the past year, and about their revenue expectations for
the next 12 months, the report also analysed their views on factors that had caused
particular corporate distress during the downturn, stability creating policies for future
growth and cost saving measures that do not hinder company growth.
Working Mothers Report: Keeping mum in the workplaceRegus
The participation of women in the workforce is widely attested to be a key driver of GDP growth. In developing countries, working women can actually make the difference required to lift a region out of poverty. Women also play a vital role in sustained economic growth and are helping bridge the skills gap where this issue is holding back economic development. How, then, can more women be encouraged to return to the workforce after maternity?

Regus provides virtual offices and meeting rooms that allow an executive coaching company called Posti & Associates to work with clients anywhere. Posti & Associates needs a flexible workspace solution due to working with clients of various sizes in different locations. Regus offers centrally located offices in Pittsburgh and Monroeville, Pennsylvania with dedicated staff and amenities. This solution saves Posti & Associates money compared to long-term leases and allows the flexibility needed to work with different clients in different locations.
The latest Regus Business Confidence Index shows that global business confidence remains steady; mature economies are showing confidence gains; and emerging economies have tempered their outlook somewhat. But no-one in business is letting a confidence uplift divert them from a continued focus on efficiency gains.
How can your business help new moms get back into work?Regus
A survey of over 24,000 businesspeople found that 57% believe companies would be more productive if they hired more women returning to work after maternity leave. The top factors identified to help women get back into the workforce were flexible working hours, the option to work near home or creche facilities, and the ability to video conference instead of travel. Flexible working arrangements are seen as key to enabling women to return to work after childbirth.

Why place still matters in the digital age: Third place working in easy reach...Regus
A new independent research report from ZZA Responsive User Environments has scotched the myth that flexible working means home-working. The report, which was supported by Regus, the world’s largest provider of flexible workspace, combines data from a global 17,000-strong business survey with in-depth qualitative interviews with business people across the world, and demonstrates that working in ‘third places’ – neither office nor home – is the new normal. These ‘third places’ encompass business centres, clubs, libraries and informal areas such as coffee shops. Moreover, the report also reveals that ‘third place’ working brings a wide range of benefits, including improved work-life balance, reduced stress and improved productivity for the employee, as well as cost-effectiveness, scalability and reduced property commitment for businesses.
Authored by Professor Ziona Strelitz, the report notes that, “Today’s dynamic technological, economic and social conditions create opportunities for individuals and pose new challenges for organisations. Attracting and harnessing talent is a central challenge for business. Third place working that enhances the quality of work life supports this agenda.”

The Regus Work:life Balance Index 2013 showed that the rate of improvement in work-life balance has slowed marginally since last year. Generations X and Y reported better work-life balance and greater achievement at work compared to Baby Boomers, who are struggling with health and family issues. While most countries saw declines in their index scores, Canada saw the largest increase. The myth that business owners have worse work-life balance was also debunked, as owners reported better balance than employees.
The Regus Work-Life Balance Index, which surveys over 16,000 professionals in more than 80 countries, has registered 24% rise between 2010 and 2012. This is a positive indication that now even more workers globally believe that conditions are improving and that measures are being taken to help them successfully manage to balance their personal and their work time.
The Regus Index calibrates work-life harmony by combining a number of different factors, both ‘soft’ indicators such as feelings of enjoyment, sense of achievement and satisfaction with the amount of time spent at home, and ‘hard’ factors such as working hours and additional duties in order to monitor real improvements in the lives of professionals all over the globe. In 2012, some 61% of business people globally feel that their work-life balance has improved since 2010. Although a positive majority, this figure still has considerable room for improvement as the decade advances.

Boundless Opportunity June 2014 Whitepaper from Regus. Regus
For the third consecutive year, the global study found that exporting businesses reported healthier revenue and profit growth compared to domestically focused businesses. Setting up a physical presence in target markets helps exporting companies maintain and grow their customer base. Four-fifths of businesses reported that customer churn can be more easily reduced if a firm is physically near customers and clients. Almost the same proportion believed physical presence improves customer satisfaction and solving customer problems, contributing to improved retention rates. The top benefits governments can provide to help businesses export include advice on legal/regulatory matters, introductions to local business associations, and advice on taxation.
Money Management International (MMI) provides financial counseling services across 27 US states. It previously rented offices under long-term leases, which lacked flexibility. MMI now uses Regus to access flexible workspace, allowing it to quickly expand or reduce its footprint based on client needs. Using Regus reduces costs for MMI compared to traditional leasing, and provides professional reception services at branch offices staffed by only one or two counselors. This flexible and cost-effective model allows MMI to better serve its clients.

It describes how Google wanted to retain its informal work culture of colorful decor and recreation areas, but needed to find a space that also met its professional requirements. Regus was able to provide a suitable office location and allow Google to customize it to its unique style. The partnership has enabled Google to grow its team in Colombia from one employee to seventeen as the country's economy and internet access has expanded.
Flexible working a key strategy in attracting and keeping top employees - Jan...Regus
Not so long ago, flexible working was the province of senior
managers who lived a long way from headquarters, and
salespeople. Now, in the minds of many, it is an essential part
of any attractive job. It has become a major differentiator when
choosing between new job possibilities; and it is a key factor
in keeping people engaged and satisfied in their
current organization.
This is partly because those in the younger management
generations (Gen Y and Z) are demanding it. Even though
conventional wisdom would suggest that younger cohorts
might accept any job conditions in order to avoid the spectre
of unemployment, in fact they are often refusing to accept
the old rules. It is also because technology enables workers
– even senior ones – to be contacted or stay in touch even
if they are not physically on company premises. Younger
employees, having grown up with the devices, know all
about the possibilities they create, of course. As a result, they
cannot understand why employers who have sought to make
workplaces like university common rooms will not go further
and allow them to work flexibly, saving time on commuting,
enhancing potential productivity, and measuring performance
by results rather than time in the office.

A series of tornadoes and thunderstorms caused widespread damage across the Midwest, leaving thousands without basic necessities like shelter, food, and power. Regus is partnering with the Red Cross to provide relief to impacted residents through donations of shelter, food, rescue efforts and other assistance. Donations are being accepted at redcross.org/regus-emp to support relief efforts.
The document discusses how flexible working arrangements can improve employee productivity. It cites a study that found 75% of business people believe flexibility increases productivity by allowing better work-life balance, improved decision-making and creativity. Other factors that can boost productivity include innovation, cloud computing, knowledge management, internal/external communication, training, and measures promoting employee health and well-being. Flexibility is seen as enhancing productivity across different countries by allowing responsibilities to be balanced with personal life in a low-stress way.

This document summarizes a study on managing remote workforces. Some key findings include:
- Over 50% of professionals now work remotely at least half the time, showing remote work is becoming more common.
- While technology enables remote work, successful remote management requires additional training on managing at a distance.
- Many companies use monitoring systems and video calls to help remote managers and improve communication.
- Remote working is expected to continue growing significantly, with some predictions that over 50% of employees may work remotely within the next decade. This could provide benefits to businesses, employees, and transportation systems.

Attendees can RSVP by May 31st to Janette McGill by phone or email.
The survey found that while most organizations have business continuity plans (BCPs) in place, many of these plans may not be fully effective due to a lack of business impact analysis (BIA) to identify critical processes. Additionally, there is often insufficient internal communication about BCPs to employees and a lack of proactive engagement with suppliers about continuity arrangements. To develop more robust BCPs, organizations need to conduct BIAs to understand recovery priorities, better communicate BCP details and staff responsibilities internally, and take a more proactive approach to ensuring continuity in the supply chain.
