2. How this idea started…
Referral Tracking
Is there a more immediate way to record a referral at the moment it happens?
Would this help our referral data collection?
Paper Copy of Local Resource Guide Booklet for YMHFA
Participants
Is the paper copy the most useful in a crisis?
Recommending Training to Others
Can we make it easy for certified first aiders to recommend and even register others
for a future course?
3. Answer – there’s an app for that!
Wanted to create an in-hand resource for certified first-aiders
to provide real-time referrals, information, and advertisement.
Online app-building platforms allow for drag-and-drop app
creation similar to website building.
Visit http://mashable.com/2013/12/03/build-mobile-
apps/#qLB9v13rsqqR for more examples of mobile app
builders.

11. Directory –
Crisis
Numbers
YMHFA-ers might be in a crisis
situation without their paper
resource guide—so we thought
that putting county crisis
numbers in the app would be
helpful.
Manage the directory on the
dashboard side.
13. “Interactions”
– Referral
Tracking
Locally, we are encouraging
dialogue with youth as well as
encouraging family
involvement with youth.
Each submission represents
one youth referral/interaction.

25. User Log-In
We added the feature of user
log-in. This helps us see who
has downloaded the app from
our courses (downloadable;
can be exported to MailChimp).
Auto Approval allows users to
create accounts without having
to be verified.
26. I’ve made an app…now what?
Determine which iOS you would like to “sell” it on (most likely for
free)
Create Developer accounts for that iOS
Apple Developer yearly fee is about $100
GooglePlay Developer fee is about $25
Share Developer account information with AppyPie/app builder
(if they will submit it to the store for you) or submit it yourself (a
bit technical, but manuals are available)
27. Successes
Positive feedback from YMHFA participants
Easy, accessible way to get crisis information
We’d like to think it provides a seamless way to talk about
YMHFA!
28. Challenges
Wi-fi access in training rooms for easy download
Walking people through the “create an account” user log-in
process
Encouraging YMHFA-ers to use it after the training is done
We still send out a monthly GoogleForm for referrals to catch all
YMHFA-ers
29. Willing to Share
If you’d like to use our template, I can share a duplicate app
that you can customize (only if using AppyPie—they can share
the app internally).
