REPORT ON INTERNSHIP FOR:
MARIE DEVERRE

During her internship, Marie carried out a wide range of tasks from the day to day
administration of the office; to assisting the managers in travel and artist related tasks. Office
tasks included coordinating the post, answering the telephones and recording travel
expenses. She assisted the managers in planning their business trips, including booking
travel and hotels and putting together travel itineraries. She helped to book meetings with
promoters and put together meeting materials. Marie was in charge of monitoring the UK
press, which involved researching relevant classical music articles each morning and
circulating them to colleagues. She was also responsible for pasting reviews, assisting with
English-French translations, and selecting key sentences for artists’ press materials. She
also assisted in sending out promotional material to international promoters. Marie also
undertook various key tasks in our financial department in the areas of management
accounting and financial control. Overseen by our Finance Manager she learned to record
monthly income results, prepare budgets, invoices, artist monthly statements and to maintain
the credit card statements and staff expenses. Most of these tasks were handled through
use of our computer operating system on which she also input and maintained data.
Marie’s organisational skills developed throughout the internship. As she became more
responsible for preparing colleagues’ travel itineraries her attention to detail became more
and more apparent which also indicated she understood the needs of that particular
colleague.
Marie’s spoken and written English grew in confidence throughout the internship. She
became the first point of contact for all outside telephone enquiries, and demonstrated
efficiency and sensitivity when re-directing calls or taking messages.
We feel that Marie was given a good insight into the workings of an artist management office.
She has adopted our working methods and gained a good understanding of how we run our
company and serve our clients. To complete her internship Marie appreciated having the
opportunity to give staff a short interview and she asked interesting and thoughtful questions.
We very much enjoyed having Marie in the office. She is a friendly and personable person to
work with. She was punctual and hardworking. She listened to instruction well and she
wasn’t afraid to ask questions where appropriate. She was adaptable to the wide range of
tasks that the internship presented and she always showed interest and enthusiasm when
learning new skills and gaining new knowledge. Everyone has appreciated her as a member
of the ‘team’ during the period of her internship.
