Diyar started employment as a Press and Digital Communications Officer at the British
Embassy in Baghdad on Jan 2013 and was later promoted to Political Officer on Jan 2015,
effectively functioning as a Second Secretary Political.
As UK Ambassador to Iraq, I have had a good oversight of Diyar’s work. During his time at
the Embassy he has helped to strengthen our political and social networks within Iraq.
Through his outreach and lobbying, including Ministers and MPs, he has helped to build our
profile and promote the UK’s positive role in Iraq. Diyar has a tremendous attitude and is
highly regarded by his colleagues. Feedback of his performance has been entirely positive,
which does him great credit.
