Continuous Integration: A bittersweet love story Suzie Prince
This is the bittersweet story of Continuous Integration. CI is practice that we fell in love with, embraced and then never fully committed to. I’ll share with you the current state of CI, what we think we are doing when we say CI and what we are really doing in terms of CI. Then I’ll remind us all why we fell in love with CI in the first place and make some suggestions on how to get back to the good stuff.

We thought we were doing continuous delivery and then... Suzie Prince
Are you sure you are doing continuous delivery? Yeah right! We thought we were too. The journey to continuous delivery (CD) is long, winding and always evolving. Like with many things we thought we had achieved all we could with continuous delivery and then... our business model changed, and then...

Sorry, the new Champlain Bridge can’t be built using Agile...Pyxis Technologies
Why is building a bridge using an Agile approach not a good idea?
Because a bridge is a monolithic construction, the scope of which is mostly inflexible and where value is obtained only once, i.e. at the end of construction. This is why we would tend to build a bridge using a detailed plan that ensures the structure integrity.
But it is not always possible to reduce the uncertainty of a problem by designing a detailed solution. When the initial information is inadequate and the product is sufficiently flexible to allow for experimenting, empirical approaches such as Agile methods are most effective.
Through various examples of risk management, Mathieu invites you to take a critical look to make an informed choice between Agile approaches and traditional methods: the construction of buildings and structures; an ERP implementation; a marketing campaign; a vehicle design; a school group work (and more).

Software development is shifting to Agile development practices due to the speed of change within organizations, and therefore creating the demand for such shifts. These same compelling reasons are pushing learning groups to challenge their current methodologies and become more adaptive. This can’t be accomplished without a Performance Support strategy, methodology, and technology.
Our charge is not only to keep up with Agile software development, but to keep up with the adaptive performance requirements of organizations to be “Agile": to grow, change, and innovate at or above the speed of their markets – in other words, the need to: “learn at the speed of change.”
Agile Gurugram 2019 Conferecne | A "Quality" Debate - Rethinking the mindset ...AgileNetwork
Session Title : A "Quality" Debate - Rethinking the mindset for non-negotiable Quality in Software Products
Session Overview : One of the key reasons for embracing agility is faster feedback which helps improve the perceived quality of a software product. And every team is focused towards delivering quality, no one wakes up in the morning with an idea to introduce defects, we naturally ideate to solve problems. Unknowingly though, dysfunctions always creep in and identifying a dysfunction is extremely difficult especially when you are a part of the dysfunction.
In this 45 min talk, discussion is about the importance of quality and how it's no longer negotiable even if Project Management principles tell us otherwise. Stories from past experience, and from organisations ranging from GM to Mumbai Dabbawalas that have embraced the "Quality is not Negotiable" principle and seen the difference.
I present the context of defect severity and how these may create an illusion of quality; how accountability of a single person (e.g.: Product Owner) may result in a "Lack of Commitment" dysfunction; and how cost is not really proportional to quality especially when it comes to delivering virtual products and services related to it.

My presentation slides from the Agile Gurugram 2019 Conference. Here I discuss the value of quality and how dysfunctions may affect it.

Lessons learned: going live with MariaDB ColumnStoreMariaDB plc
DataDock Solutions, a FinTech analytics platform-as-a-service, is about to to change trading as we know it. After a year of preparation and development, we went live in early January 2018 with MariaDB ColumnStore as the backend database. It handles massive amounts of market data as well as all sorts of mostly time-series data, including client-specific data. The data we work with is gathered and loaded overnight using batch processes, but it needs to be readily available to customers via a web browser. These two fundamentally different patterns of data access present different challenges on top of a quite complex configuration for MariaDB ColumnStore.
This talk walks through a few cases where support provided by the MariaDB team was instrumental to a very successful launch. The platform took off the moment a highly-positioned decision maker at our first client said to us, “… if you want to grow our business, then this is MUST HAVE!” But in fact, the real start took place several months before…
You have a keen vision for what your organization can achieve-
even a solid strategy. Yet you’re out of sync. It’s taking too
long, or you’re just stuck altogether. The rub? If your culture
is misaligned with your strategy, all bets are off.

To Whom it May Concern – Re: Chaohui Wu (Stephen)
I have had the pleasure of working with Stephen over the past seven months, when Stephen joined
us at PatronBase as a part time developer, and found him to be a most hard working and diligent
developer.
Working on a large project in a distributed environment poses particular challenges – working with
colleagues in a different time-zone, we rely on Stephen to both be able to work under his own
initiative and to work with a team most of whom he has never met. Stephen has proven more than
up to the challenge – keen to learn, he’s excellent at taking guidance and direction, and clarifying
efficiently anything he’s unsure about.
Stephen has fitted in well with work in an agile environment, and deploying code on several
streams concurrently. As well as developing new features, Stephen has worked on complex
refactorings confidently, and implementing best practice such as WPF and MVVM.
I have no hesitation in commending Stephen to you as an excellent developer.
Yours faithfully
