Your Ideal Client Exercise
Your goal here is to be the person you wish to work with.
To get into their soul.
Understand their deepest desires and most secret fears.
To really know your ideal client.
Most ideal client exercises are all about the demographics – how
many kids, income, age, work, etc. This is important information and
will be part of this ideal client exercise however, where most ideal
client exercises fall short is with the true value: the psychographics.
You want to know how your client FEELS.
What they want in life. What makes them fly. What makes them fall.
What they hold in their heart and what speaks to their soul.
I’ve done Ideal Client exercises way more times than I can
remember. It’s valuable every time. So give yourself the space to
really do this exercise.
Then do it.
Here’s how.

My Ideal Client, Part 1:
Begin by answering the following questions.
1. Gender?
2. Name?
3. Age?
4. Height?
5. Skin color?
6. Hair color?
7. Eye color?
8. Married? Single?
9. Happily married? Happily single?
10. Partners name?
11. Kids? How many? Age?
12. Health? Are they healthy? Sick? Do they care about their health?
13. What kind of work do they do?
14. What kind of car do they drive?

15. What kind of car do they want to drive?
16. Where do they live? Suburbs? City? Country?
17. Where do they want to live?
18. Financial situation? Are they financially secure?
19. Describe their personality?
20. What are they passionate about?
21. What is their biggest pet peeve?
22. What do they wish was different about their life?
23. Religious? Spiritual? What are their beliefs?
24. Hobbies?
25. What does a typical day look like for them?
26. What keeps them up at night?
27. What keeps them up at night in relation to the service or product you
provide?
28. What would be their ideal solution?
29. Why are they drawn to you? What’s special to them about you?

33. How can you solve their problems?

My Ideal Client, Part 2:
Now complete the following exercise.
Look quickly over your answers to the above questions. Then write.
Write about your ideal client.
Who they really are.
Describe them as you would describe your best friend to your closest
family member.
Bring them to life.
Set your timer for five minutes and just write.
Brilliant!

Understand their deepest desires and most secret fears. To really know your ideal client. Most ideal client exercises are all about the demographics – how many kids, income, age, work, etc. This is important information and will be part of this ideal client exercise however, where most ideal client exercises fall short is with the true value: the psychographics. You want to know how your client FEELS. What they want in life. What makes them fly. What makes them fall. What they hold in their heart and what speaks to their soul. I’ve done Ideal Client exercises way more times than I can remember. It’s valuable every time. So give yourself the space to really do this exercise. Then do it. Here’s how.

Hair color? 7. Eye color? 8. Married? Single? 9. Happily married? Happily single? 10. Partners name? 11. Kids? How many? Age? 12. Health? Are they healthy? Sick? Do they care about their health? 13. What kind of work do they do? 14. What kind of car do they drive?

Where do they want to live? 18. Financial situation? Are they financially secure? 19. Describe their personality? 20. What are they passionate about? 21. What is their biggest pet peeve? 22. What do they wish was different about their life? 23. Religious? Spiritual? What are their beliefs? 24. Hobbies? 25. What does a typical day look like for them? 26. What keeps them up at night? 27. What keeps them up at night in relation to the service or product you provide? 28. What would be their ideal solution? 29. Why are they drawn to you? What’s special to them about you?

Then write. Write about your ideal client. Who they really are. Describe them as you would describe your best friend to your closest family member. Bring them to life. Set your timer for five minutes and just write. Brilliant!
