Khan Kassymov has worked with the Energy Hub student organization for three years, serving as president and recruiting new volunteers. Under his guidance, the organization has provided weekly programming on energy issues and an annual conference. In addition to his studies, Khan has led successful design competitions and projects, winning substantial awards such as $50,000 for a World Energy Expo initiative in Kazakhstan. Khan is an excellent team player who delegates effectively and leads teams to achieve results through focus, respect, and a willingness to help others achieve goals.

I have had the pleasure of working with Mamyrkhan “Khan” Kassymov for the past three
years. I first met him when he was a student volunteer with Energy Hub (EHub), a University
of Wisconsin-Madison student organization which I advise. To my complete delight, he quickly
stepped up to be President of the organization. But that is not surprising given how
motivated and passionate he is about whatever he sets his mind to achieve. During his time
as EHub President, Khan recruited new volunteers to the Program Committee. Under his
guidance, this committee has continued to provide weekly programming on energy issues as
well as an annual energy-related conference for the past two years.
In addition to managing his heavy academic load, Khan is also thoroughly engaged in starting
and completing outside projects. Working with other students, he successfully lead a design
competition as well as other projects which won awards, some quite substantial, such as a
$50,000 award for an initiative that he is leading in Kazakhstan for the World Energy Expo
slated to be held there in 2017.
Khan is an excellent team player who understands how to delegate with authority and
responsibility. He is skilled at managing others, leading delegations in achieving excellent
results to the satisfaction of the person responsible for the task, a skill that is hard to come
by. With calm and focus, he is able to lead a team by being a man of his word; being
resourceful, creative and respectful; and being more than willing to help carry whatever load
needs to be carried to achieve a goal.
I am clearly an advocate for this highly motivated young man and believe that you will do
well by working with him in the future.
