This is my real life case study for my A2 media studies coursework on horror films.

2. 15 year old Destiny Garcia (Sanchez) was charged with murdering her
mother and step-father four days before New Years Eve. She claimed
to be physically abused from both her mother and step-father with her
mother hitting her and her step-father raping her and neither
intervening. She confessed to her cousin about killing her parents after
fleeing to her biological fathers home to claim refuge with him.
She apparently murdered them with a 15 year old male accomplice that
shot them after she stabbed them, ensuring that they were dead. The
bodies were found after relatives reported them missing.

3. This case study is similar to my first psychological horror film narrative as my horror film depicts a
teenage girl who gets abused by her parents from an early age and because of this develops psychological
problems that leads her to having a drug/alcohol addiction. This addiction causes her to have
hallucinations that further her mental deterioration and cause her to murder her boyfriend in an
unprecedented rage.
From researching existing case studies about murders that have taken place in real life, I will be able to
get ideas from these and apply them to my narrative in order for it to appear more professional and
realistic.
