The Reproductive and Child Health (RCH) program was launched in India on October 15, 1997 based on recommendations from the 1994 International Conference on Population and Development. The objectives of the RCH program are to promote maternal and child health, ensure safe motherhood and child survival by reducing infant and maternal mortality rates, and achieve population stabilization through responsible reproductive behavior. The key components are maternal care, child survival programs, and prevention and management of reproductive tract infections and sexually transmitted diseases.
