The immune system protects the body from pathogens and diseases. It consists of organs like the spleen, lymph nodes, bone marrow, thymus and tonsils. The immune system contains lymphatic cells like B cells, T cells, natural killer cells and macrophages that recognize and eliminate pathogens. B cells produce antibodies of different classes including IgA and IgG. Natural killer cells attack virus-infected cells and tumors. Disorders of the immune system can occur and immunotherapy is used to treat some disorders.
