4. Bus Not only were colored people segregated through drinking fountains, but also on the buses. They were sent to the back and were forced to sit more to a seat than any other person on the bus. Sometimes, they would have to give up their seat for a white person.

5. Colored people were so irritated and aggravated that people, in general, were segregating them like this. This photo shows what many colored people did to show their annoyance, picketing. 6. Segregation not only affected adults, but children as well. In this photo, you can see how aggravated these parents are that school would treat children just as they treat adults. These parents are protesting against it; there is even a small girl that is helping in the protesting against segregation.

7. Restrooms This restroom sign is an example of how people were segregated. Not only are the men and women separated, but so are the blacks and whites. This picture represents segregation.

9. “ I Am A Man” These men are trying to persuade the public that even though they are colored, they are still men. Just because they are colored does not mean that people are given a right to be treat them anymore differently than anyone else. The color of their skin does not stereotype them as being of a poor working class.

10. Walking to School Racial segregation caused many changes in the society. While some people found what was wrong, others just went along with what everyone else was doing. In this photo, there are couple of black males walking through a tunnel of other students, as if the other students are singling them out from the rest of the school population.

12. Some people tried to express their annoyance about their current situation of being segregated. Others of this time tried something different, they tried to make the best of what they had. The people in the photo are both colored and white, together, showing that to them segregation was something that they must overcome; it did not conflict with their lives as other people made it conflict. 13. Clincher Segregation greatly affected the society. It showed people that it was all right to judge a person by their skin color. In reality, this is very unfair and unjust. Just because someone is a different skin color does not give anyone the right to stereotype them all as being a poor social working class. Just because they are a different skin color does not make them uneducated nor does that give anyone a reason so single them out and treat their race as some sort of disease. Instead, people should learn from this mistake that has happened throughout history and people must finally realize that you cannot judge a book by its cover.
