Question
words
What are they?
When do we use them
What for?
 Question words are the words
we use to form questions in the
different tenses.
 They are also usually called WH
words because most of them
(but NOT all) start with those
letters.
 Let’s see some examples of
question words!
• We use WHAT when we
want:
1- to ask for information
about something (an
object).
2- to ask for repetition
or confirmation.
• We use WHERE when we
want to ask about a
place or a position.
• We use WHO
when we want
to ask about a
person or about
people (usually
the subject)
 We use WHY when we
want to ask for the
reason of something.
 We use HOW when we
want:
 1- to ask about
manner.
 2- to ask about
condition or quality.
Hope you find it useful!
