2. GENDER
• With a male character in the lead of my post apocalyptic, I
wanted to represent him as a strong independent character. I
wanted this representation as this would show how people in
a overrun society would need to survive; he also needs to
look for a cure and this will further encourage him to strive on
in this society.
• However, with female characters it’s different. In my film,
there are no female characters. This is taken from The Book
of Eli as I wanted my lead character to have similar qualities
to the lead character in The Book of Eli. He also has no time
for anyone as he is a lone man on a journey searching for a
cure.
3. ETHNICITY
• With the lead character(acted by Ramy Ben Fredj) being half
Tunisian, it will break the stereotype of a white British
character as the area is 97.6% white British.
• As well as this, I also wanted to represent the different
ethnicities and how the disease has effected all of society,
and not just certain minorities. I want to show the huge scale
it’s on.
4. Age
• The main actor is 17 years old, I wanted him to play a
character who is slightly older (approximately 20 years old –
25 years old).
• I wanted him at this age as for the story he would’ve been old
enough to remember and live through the epidemic.
• Furthermore, with the age of the character, there would be a
higher chance of survival as he is physically fit and more able
to survive due to his age.
