Question 1
1. We decided to make a zombie horror to do this we first researched
these types of movies and analysed them. We watched clips of these
films and read an article on horror films, looking for the conventions
in the films and trying to figure out how we could apply these
conventions to our own product without copying them completely.
We looked at films such as Zombieland and dawn of the dead and
compared the two looking for similarities in the two. We picked out
similar Mise-en-scene and cinematography in the two and tried to
apply them to our own film. We saw things such as abandoned areas,
which we tried to add in to our film by filming in an old factory. This
gave a good effect as it showed the surrounding areas to be broken
down as if something had happened to the town. Another thing we
noticed about these kinds of films is a sense of mystery given to the
zombie. We showed this by not revelling the threat until the end of
the opening and then only showing part of it, keeping the mystery
there until the end. This mystery builds up tension and fear.
