Costumes, props, techniques and settings are used to establish hierarchy, purpose, location and time period in the production of Henry V in the small Globe theater. Costumes distinguish social classes and nationalities. Props like a frying pan or sword indicate a character's role. Techniques like a "primitive hamster wheel" allow actors to appear to run in place. Sets use trees, sand, mud or grass to represent different locations given the bare stage of the Globe.
http://entrelib.org/conferences/2013-conference/scheduled-presenters/ In this session the second cohort of Academic and Cultural Enrichment (ACE) Scholars facilitate a dialogue on diversity issues that impact equity and inclusivity in the library and information field and services. Four diversity issues will be introduced through “ignite”presentations, during which experiences, perspectives, challenges and strategies and best practices related to the issues will be discussed, and will conclude with group summaries of strategies. Using a critical lens and in conversation with these recent MLIS graduates (16-20), diversity concerns and barriers in the profession will be uncovered. This proposed session is an exercise in collaborative learning and in connecting theory and practice around diversity and libraries. - Rachel A Smith, ACE scholar

This document presents a definition of phrases and describes a general approach to developing a theory of grammar based on universal grammar and native speaker intuitions. It defines phrases as groups of words that do not contain subjects or verbs. It then outlines a theory of grammar involving lexical categories that form phrase heads and phrase structure rules that determine phrase constituents and their orderings. Several example phrase structure rules are given for noun phrases, verb phrases, and prepositional phrases.
Andrade and Hazlitt collaborated to design a Library Orientation & Tour workshop to predominantly Spanish-speaking staff in the university’s Facilities department, who had been underserved in opportunities for professional development. Using word-of-mouth networks on campus to promote the program, and a an organization called “Viernes Por La Tarde” to recruit faculty, staff, and student volunteers from all walks at LMU, a five-part series of workshops was created. Included is the history and evolution of the Computer Literacy Workshops; the description of the results of an LMU Service Staff Technology and Library Skills Survey; and the provision of strategies for implementing a similar program at other institutions.

5th LF Energy Power Grid Model Meet-up SlidesDanBrown980551
5th Power Grid Model Meet-up
It is with great pleasure that we extend to you an invitation to the 5th Power Grid Model Meet-up, scheduled for 6th June 2024. This event will adopt a hybrid format, allowing participants to join us either through an online Mircosoft Teams session or in person at TU/e located at Den Dolech 2, Eindhoven, Netherlands. The meet-up will be hosted by Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e), a research university specializing in engineering science & technology.
Power Grid Model
The global energy transition is placing new and unprecedented demands on Distribution System Operators (DSOs). Alongside upgrades to grid capacity, processes such as digitization, capacity optimization, and congestion management are becoming vital for delivering reliable services.
Power Grid Model is an open source project from Linux Foundation Energy and provides a calculation engine that is increasingly essential for DSOs. It offers a standards-based foundation enabling real-time power systems analysis, simulations of electrical power grids, and sophisticated what-if analysis. In addition, it enables in-depth studies and analysis of the electrical power grid’s behavior and performance. This comprehensive model incorporates essential factors such as power generation capacity, electrical losses, voltage levels, power flows, and system stability.
Power Grid Model is currently being applied in a wide variety of use cases, including grid planning, expansion, reliability, and congestion studies. It can also help in analyzing the impact of renewable energy integration, assessing the effects of disturbances or faults, and developing strategies for grid control and optimization.
What to expect
For the upcoming meetup we are organizing, we have an exciting lineup of activities planned:
-Insightful presentations covering two practical applications of the Power Grid Model.
-An update on the latest advancements in Power Grid -Model technology during the first and second quarters of 2024.
-An interactive brainstorming session to discuss and propose new feature requests.
-An opportunity to connect with fellow Power Grid Model enthusiasts and users.
