Our contribution
We make real what matters for Qatar
Safety
We enable safety in buildings across
Qatar through our cutting-edge building
technologies. More than 55,000
sensors and 1 million data points work
in unison to ensure fire safety, building
automation and security. 200 buildings
in Qatar are equipped with our smart
solutions and advanced technologies.
Qatar believes that human development is
a key pillar in its vision. Future economic
success will increasingly depend on
embracing a knowledge-based world that
is extremely competitive. To meet the
challenge, Qatar is establishing advanced
educational systems, providing excellent
training, and opening the doors to increased
vocational support for Qatari women.
These measures will ensure the increased
and diversified participation of its citizens
in the labor force.
60%
We redistribute
of our profits locally
66%of our employees have
graduate or post-graduate
degrees
Qatar is committed to sustaining its own
development, diversifying its economy and
providing a high standard of living for all of
its people for generations to come.
Qatar is enjoying a period of prosperity and
economic progress which is reflected in the
quality of life of its people. The government
is dedicated to a comprehensive development
path which will continue to uphold a high
standard of living.
This includes driving sustainable
urbanization, encouraging healthy living
and working environments, in addition to
safeguarding citizens and residents.
Our contribution
Electrification
Siemens technology contributes to
transmitting and distributing over
60% of power generated in Qatar.
Economic diversification
We see ourselves as partners in
contributing to the local economy:
we redistribute 60% of our profits locally.
Power and water generation
We facilitate electricity and water
generation through one of the largest
projects in the region: by 2018, thanks
to our technology, the electricity output
is expected to rise by +23% and water
supply by +25% in the country.
200 2 million
buildings in Qatar are equipped
with our smart solutions and

universities
Supporting transformation
Qatar is enjoying a period of unprecedented
prosperity and economic growth. With such
change comes transformation.
Our contribution
Private sector training
Human development is a key pillar
in Qatar’s visionary journey: we
collaborate with Qatar Foundation to
inspire and develop promising Qatari
talent though the ‘Qatar Foundation
and Siemens Talent Training Program’.
Local talent
We encourage Qataris participation
in the workforce by reaching out and
collaborating with local universities.
We currently hire 18% of our hires
from local universities.
Sustaining the environment
Our contribution
Green technology
Our green technology will enable Qatar
to set new benchmarks for sustainable
infrastructure in the region: Qatar’s
state-of-the-art tram system will
consume 25% less energy per year and
reduce CO2 emissions.
Driving the economy Developing local jobs and skills
Value-adding innovations
Improving quality of life
Our contribution
Education
We participate in 15+ events
with local universities and enable
students to prepare for future careers
offering 15,000+ hours of student
internship training.
Skills upscaling
Furthering skills creates engaged
and effective employees: we invest
1+ million QAR on training to enhance
our employees’ skills and futures.
Local training
We support local knowledge transfer
by providing customers with 55+
training sessions a year that amount
to 14,500 hours.
Nurturing excellence
We share Qatar’s view that education
and skills are the key to success: 66%
of our employees have graduate or
post-graduate degrees and 50%
work in the engineering field.
Employee well-being
Healthy employees are happy and
productive employees. This is why we
foster initiatives that promote well-
being: a regional challenge saw over 2
million steps achieved in 100 days with
an average of each Siemens employee
making 15,000 steps a day.
The nation is committed to managing this
through Qatar National Vision 2030, which
defines the road ahead and reflects the
aspirations, objectives and culture
of the Qatari people.
Female employment
We share Qatar’s social commitment
to enhancing women’s roles in the
workplace: we promote women in
employment and are working towards
a target of 20% females in the
workforce by 2020.
Our contribution
55,000
We ensure fire safety, building
automation and security through
Siemens sensors and 1 million
data points captured
Qatar seeks to preserve and protect
the environment and nurture an
environmentally aware society. It is
committed to issues such as diminishing
water resources, the effect of pollution
as well as international environmental
concerns such as global warming.
The nation cooperates regionally and
internationally to proactively mitigate
the negative effects of pollution
and climate change.
Innovation
We are partnering with The Qatar
Science and Technology Park (QSTP),
Qatar’s primary incubator for
technology and innovation: 10
cutting-edge R&D projects are already
in progress with one filed for a patent.
Entrepreneurship
At Siemens, we share and uphold
Qatar’s zeal for entrepreneurship:
locally developed smart grid monitoring
solutions were purchased by Siemens
Latin America and South Africa.
10 cutting-edge R&D projects
with one filed for a patent
25%
targeted reduction in energy
consumption per year and
reduced CO2 emissions through
upcoming tram system
20%
females in the workforce by 2020
Qatar aspires to be a center of innovation, scientific research
and technology. These goals are reflected in Qatar Vision
2030 and realized by Qatar Foundation, which operates
in the fields of education, science and research.
Entrepreneurship, innovation and best practice in
technology will facilitate the transition from a resource-
based to knowledge-based economy. Public/private research
partnerships and international collaborations are already
transforming vision into reality.
A knowledge-based economy characterized
by innovation, entrepreneurship, and
excellence in education, infrastructure and
transparency will drive the way forward.
