Lesson
What is the
difference of 250
and 125?
Who is the current
vice president of
the Philippines?
What is the
meaning of CPU?
What problems have you
encountered while
answering the
questions?
What is a connection? Is
it important? Why?
OBJECTIVES:
• Define computer network.
• Enumerate the benefits and risks of computer network.
• Value the importance of computer network in a daily living.
Are you already familiar with the topic? Rate your knowledge about
computer network from 1-5, 1 being the lowest at 5 being the highest.
Raise your hands showing your self-rating.”
Processing questions:
1.What can you say about the picture?
2.What’s the difference of the two pictures?
3.Can you give a word/s that connects to the 2nd picture?
Processing Question:
1. What’s the picture all about?
2. Can you connect or give a word/s that can
define the picture?
Computer Network
➢ is a collection of
interconnected devices,
such as computers,
servers, and routers, that
are linked together to
facilitate communication
and the sharing of
resources.
Basic overview of how computer networks operate:
1.Hardware Components: Computer networks
consist of hardware components such as
computers, servers, routers, switches,
modems, and cables. These components work
together to facilitate data transmission and
communication.
2.Communication Protocols: Networks rely on
communication protocols, which are sets of
rules and conventions that govern how data is
transmitted and received across the network.
Common protocols include TCP/IP
(Transmission Control Protocol/Internet
Protocol), Ethernet, Wi-Fi, and HTTP
(Hypertext Transfer Protocol).
Basic overview of how computer networks operate:
3. Data Transmission: Data is transmitted across the
network in the form of packets. Each packet
contains information such as the sender's address,
the recipient's address, and the actual data being
transmitted. Packets travel from the source device
to the destination device through a series of
network devices such as routers and switches.
4. Network Infrastructure: Networks can be wired
or wireless. Wired networks use physical cables
(e.g., Ethernet cables) to connect devices, while
wireless networks use radio waves to transmit data
between devices (e.g., Wi-Fi networks).
Basic overview of how computer networks operate:
5. Routing and Switching: Routers and switches are key
components in network infrastructure. Routers are responsible for
directing data packets between different networks, while switches
manage the flow of data within a single network. Routers use IP
addresses to determine the most efficient path for data
transmission.
6. Addressing: Devices connected to a network are assigned
unique identifiers called IP addresses. IP addresses allow devices
to communicate with each other over the network. Additionally,
devices may also have MAC (Media Access Control) addresses,
which are unique hardware identifiers assigned to network
interface cards.
7. Network Services: Networks provide various services to users
and applications, such as file sharing, printing, email, web
browsing, and video conferencing. These services rely on the
underlying network infrastructure to transmit data between
devices.
