Pure Water Group organizes her activities through two independent divisions.
Both divisions, each with their own specific focus, are active within the field of
High Purity and Ultra Pure Water systems and strengthen each other through the
synergy of knowledge and experience.
5. Combined expertise
From the very beginning Pure Water Systems bv, founded in 1998, had its focus
on delivery and maintenance of its two main activities: High Purity & Ultra Pure
Water systems and Electro Deionization (EDI)-technology.
In 2000 Pure Water Systems signed a distribution agreement for the European
market with a Californian (USA) EDI-equipment supplier to be able to commer-
cially utilize the available expertise in the field of EDI.
In 2004, to utilize the growth potential in the best way possible Pure Water Sys-
tems chose to start a cooperation with EDI-supplier Ionpure. To better streamline
the activities, a second company was founded which specialized in EDI only:
Pure Water Technologies bv.
Although both companies operate independently on an administrative level,
there is an overlap in activities and a maximum benefit of synergy and each
others expertise. Since 2010 Pure Water Systems and Pure Water Technologies
operate as autonomous divisions under one common name Pure Water Group.

8. EDI technology
The advanced EDI technology is typically implemented downstream Rever-
se Osmosis (RO) equipment and mainly used for the production of High Purity
and Ultra Pure Water. The environmental friendly operating combined RO-EDI
systems, as successor for the more traditional Ion Exchange resin installations,
are nowadays the standard for the production of demineralized water. EDI equip-
ment can operate continuous and produces a constant quality pure water. The
systems have a very limited footprint and frequent maintenance is not applicable.
Electricity is all that’s needed for the electrochemical process operation.

CEDI technology
CEDI (Continuous Electro Deionization) is a continuous electrochemical process
that is applied afterreverse osmosis (RO). A CEDI-system purifies the RO product
water to a constant quality (Ultra) Pure water. During this process most of the re-
maining ions are removed from the product water, including weakly ionized ma-
terials, like silicates and CO2
.
CEDI-modules consist of product- and reject compartments which are alternately
divided by cation selective and anion selective membranes. Both the product and
the reject compartments are filled with ion exchange resin.
Features of CEDI-technology
• No need for regeneration chemicals, which means no chemical waste;
• Continuous production of pure water and continuous electrical regeneration;
• More compact than traditional ion exchange plants;
• Feedwater of concentrate compartments does not have to be electrically
conductive, due to a patented filling of the compartments with ion exchange
resins. Concentrate circulation and/or salt dosage is therefore superfluous;

mic life time of consumables and the durability of membranes.
Maintenance and service
Pure Water Group offers several services and (preventive) maintenance for the
delivered equipment. The systems, the process and the water composition is
checked and if needed the settings are adjusted. Obviously a service-contract
with economic conditions can be arranged.
Documentation, qualification and validation
All water purification plants are supplied with a documents binder as required.
This includes at least an installation, operation and maintenance manual, certifi-
cates, schedules, diagrams and spare parts lists. Water systems for haemodialysis
and pharmaceutical application are handed-over including qualification and
validation in accordance with actual guidelines and requirements.
Cleaning and disinfection
Due to certain conditions, membranes and systems can become fouled and
scaled. For instance by organic substances including micro-organisms and/
or precipitation of calcium, magnesium or silicates. Pure Water Group has the
specific expertise for cleaning and disinfection of your equipment.
