This document summarizes a project by students from P.U. Middle School in Tamil Nadu, India to create a plastic-free zone in their village. The students identified plastic and polythene waste around the school and village and conducted awareness campaigns to educate villagers about the problems of plastic pollution. They provided alternatives like paper plates and cloth bags. They saw reductions in plastic bag usage and littering. Through demonstrations and discussions, the students explained the effects of plastic to other students and encouraged alternatives. They were able to significantly reduce the number of plastic users in the village.
