“What Effect Does E-Waste Have On Groundwater?” By Veena Clay
I chose this article because it revolves around economic issues which are global. These issue deals with groundwater, which has stated to be one of the most precious resources on Earth (Clay, 2015). It is also what happens in my community where many people live. Groundwater as stated by the Clay (2015), “yields supply water to nearly every community in the country”, and “without it, most of us would be driven to drastic measures to accommodate drought conditions” (Clay, 2015). The author discusses information, which reveal her perspective about how groundwater has increase throughout the nation, which has affected many environmental factors. This due to the contamination of groundwater. When groundwater has become contaminated, it causes the communities to have less water resources to support their use. What cause groundwater to contaminate? According to Clay (2015), “Due to water’s excellent solvency, it’s easy for runoff” and “even rainwater to contain contaminates from plastics, pesticides, oil and dissolved chemicals” (Clay, 2015), which causes e-waste to be a form of a serious pollution. E-waste has many harmful chemicals that leaks into the soil and go directly to the groundwater resources. This cause when electronics are dumped illegally and in states that have yet to enact landfill ban legislation for electronic waste (Clay, 2015). In order to reduce or protect the community, learning to recycled or refurbished electronics can prevent groundwater contamination. Because if we do not learn to recycled or refurbished electronics it can in up in traveling from garbage, to the soil, and final to the groundwater. This will then affect the community.

The phenomenon on Earth known as “global warming” is thought
by many, but not all, to be the result of greenhouse gases added to
the Earth’s atmosphere due human activity. A significant number
of scientists also believe that global warming has induced changes
to the Earth’s climate. Again, not everyone agrees with that
assessment.
In the final group activity, your group is being asked to write a 5-7
page paper that summarizes your group’s opinions on global
warming.
Global Warming on Earth
There are no correct answers to the questions posed in this
assignment. In fact, there may even be disagreements among
group members about the proper responses. In this assignment,
therefore, we are only interested in intelligent, well-reasoned
arguments. All intelligent well-reasoned arguments can earn full
credit, no matter what opinions are expressed. If there are
disagreements in the group, multiple submissions are acceptable,
each of which can earn full credit. However, if there are multiple
submissions, group members need to identify with the submission
they support.
In what follows, we have included many websites. There are many
more websites, articles and books that weigh in on these issues.
You are encouraged to use additional reference sources.
The Debate:
As the Phet simulation shows, the Earth’s global surface
temperature has risen by about a degree Celsius as the CO2
concentration increases by approximately 33%. There are many
questions associated with this observed fact, which as we have
seen, the models can predict. Among these: Is human activity
responsible for this temperature rise through the emission of
Greenhouse gases or is the temperature rise a natural phenomenon?
Without change, will human activity in the 21st century force the
Earth’s global temperature even higher? One of the very important
questions in this debate concern economics. Do restrictions on
Greenhouse gases lead to impacts on the U.S. or World economies
that stunt economic growth in ways that lead to negative outcomes
for First World or Third World countries?
These are all important questions for which there is considerable
disagreement about the answers.
Scott Pruitt, the current Administrator of the Environmental
Protection Agency said in an interview: "I think that measuring
with precision human activity on the climate is something very
challenging to do and there's tremendous disagreement about the
degree of impact. So no, I would not agree that [human activity] is
a primary contributor to the global warming that we see." Senator
James Inhofe, Chair of the Senate Environment Committee, has
famously offered his opinion that "manmade global warming is the
greatest hoax ever perpetrated on the American people."
On the other hand, Keith Seitter, the executive director of the
American Meteorological Society wrote in response: “In reality,
the world’s seven ...

Factory farming produces large amounts of greenhouse gases and pollutes the environment. It relies heavily on antibiotic use which contributes to growing antibiotic resistance issues. Animals raised in factory farms live in cruel conditions, confined in small spaces and unable to perform natural behaviors. While factory farming is economically important, alternatives such as clean meat production could help transition to more sustainable and humane food systems.

This was created by fact checking a famous internet chain mail describing the horrors of plastic bags. It appears that most of it was never really linked to any authoritative source. But news papers like the NY times a Boston Globe as fact. It is truely an example of Escience and Ejournalism where research is conducted online and professional standards of fact checking and documentation were abandoned

Turning Photons into Fuel
