TITLES OF THE ARTICLE
There are two types of titles for the articles given during submission:
• Main title
– The word limit for main title is 70-100 characters
– It provides the crisp information on topic and design of investigation
• Running title
– The word limit for running title is 40-50 characters
– It is a short title given to be used in header/footer of all pages of the article
TITLE: POINTS TO REMEMBER
Title should be simple and concise
Avoid use of abbreviations in the title
Additional information (such as study design) can be added by using a colon
Use of humor and puns should be avoided (so as to avoid complexity in
understanding by non-naïve readers)
Title should contain keywords of the manuscript for indexing purposes
COMMON FORMATS FOR THE MAIN
TITLE
Main title can be drafted in the following three formats:
• Descriptive titles: They describe the subject, but do not tell conclusion of
the article
• Declarative titles: These titles tell the major conclusion of the article
• Interrogative titles: These titles present the subject in the form of a question

•The title page information varies from journal to journal
•Generally, the title pages includes the following:
– Manuscript title
– Running title
– Author(s) details, along with affiliations
– Details of corresponding author including address, email ID, contact number
– Word count (text; abstract)
– Number of figures and the number of tables
