This document outlines a business plan to sell a new board game in Kent, England. It estimates that in the first quarter they will sell the board game to 5,580 people aged 18-24 in Kent. It then lists the various costs associated with producing, distributing, and marketing the board game in the first quarter, including renting an industrial space, wages for drivers and factory workers, renting delivery vans, and fuel costs. The total estimated variable costs are £27,900 for production and £791.28 for wages.

2.  In Kent there are approx. 93,000
people aged 18-24. We predict in
our first quarter we will sell to 6%
(5,580) of this target market if we
choose the appropriate marketing
techniques and our game is a
success.
 We chose this us our target market
because only over 18’s can legally
drink, so targeting our game at an
age below 18 wouldn’t be ethically
correct, even though it may appeal
to them, it would give our
company a bad image if we
encourage underage drinking.

3.  The main source of finance for the idea of
our board game will be through a venture
capitalist. We would hope to receive
around £25,000 from this. This money
would mainly be used to cover fixed costs
such as rent and wages.
 We could also gain money through a P2P,
this would be useful as because our board
game is an innovative, new idea, we
would be able to assess whether our idea
would be a success or not. We would aim
to achieve £25,000 from this method and
this money would be used towards
variable costs, such as the cost of making
the board game.
 The final method of us achieving money
would be through borrowing off of family
members. If each of us borrow £5,000, it
will add another £20,000 to our budget.
We would aim to use this money towards
the marketing of our product.

4.  We predict in our first quarter we
will sell 5,580 board games. With
each one costing £5 to produce,
our variable cost will be £27,900 in
the first quarter.

5.  Our first fixed cost will
be a light industrial
area to rent. Having
looked at various
properties we
decided to base
ourselves on Station
Industrial Estate,
Burnham-On-Crouch.
The property is 2,647
square feet, and will
cost us £459 per
calendar month.
Therefore, in our first
quarter it will cost us
£1,377 to rent the
property.

6.  Drivers will distribute 116 board
games a week across 4 divisions of
Kent in our first quarter. North Kent,
East Kent, South Kent and West Kent.
The journey from our property to
Kent will take approximately 2 hours
45 minutes there and back. Each
driver will be paid minimum wage to
begin with (£6.31). Therefore each
driver will earn £15.46 a week. With
four drivers, this means the cost of
their wages for the first quarter will
be £185.52.
 We will hire 10 workers to work daily
in the factory working from 9-5. They
will also earn minimum wage,
meaning they’ll earn £50.48 a week.
With ten workers, this means the
cost of their wages for the first
quarter will be £605.76.
 Overall, the cost of wages will be
£791.28.

7.  We will rent our vans from Steve’s
Self Drive Hire near our property.
The van costs £36 to rent daily and
that covers VAT and insurance. We
will rent 4 vans a week meaning it
will cost us £144 a week to vent
the vans. Therefore, in our first
quarter it will cost £1728 to rent
the vans.
 The journey from our property to
the different shops in Kent will cost
approximately £13 in petrol. With
4 vans completing this journey it
will cost us £52 a week. Therefore
in our first quarter petrol will cost
us £624.
