3. Q: What is an outpatient ?
A: An outpatient is a patient who receives
treatment at a hospital, at an emergency room
or clinic, but is not hospitalized.
4. The PTA follows a treatment plan developed for the
patient and their goals. The PTA follows this plan to
alleviate the patient of; movement dysfunction,
physical disabilities and pain.
The PTA carries out interventions such as; exercise,
stretch, strength training, posture, wheel chair use,
body mechanics, posture, ultrasound massage,
therapeutic heat and cold, electric current, ultraviolet,
traction and activities of daily living.
They document the patients progress and keep in close
contact with the Physical Therapist.
