1.) How long have you known the intern, and in what context?
I have known the intern for about a month. A friend of mine introduced him and told me
that he was a sophomore major in GIS at Penn State University, and looking for an intern
opportunity at Institute of Remote Sensing and GIS in Peking University, Beijing.
2.) How did the intern’s work contribute to your organization?
The intern joined the group of developing intelligent client applications at the institute. The
group was at the beginning of the “Wimbao” app project, an android application that
combined agriculture technology, GPS, and remote sensing to better serve for the
customers. Zixuan participated in the design and development of the terminal software. He
learned Java language and programming by reading textbook during the first week, and
then we give him some simple programming tasks to practice. By the end of the
internship, he finished the work of menu design, the response of clicking function tabs,
app login function, map loading, and the function of positioning for this android
application.
3.) What are the intern’s principal strengths and special talents?
The student is attentive, and has quick thinking, good learning attitude and strong
learning ability. Although Zixuan has little knowledge about android programming, he is
willing to learn, and practices his learning in real projects.
4.) Compared to others with similar responsibilities, how would rate the intern? Why?
The student performed well during his period of internship. Zixuan was never late for work
or leave early. He was also eager to learn, raised doubts and difficult questions for
discussion, and treated his work very carefully.
