PROVERBS
It is a wise saying. There is always a hidden
story behind proverbs.
Self praise is no
recommendation.
“If you praise yourself, people will think
that you are boastful and will not respect
you. Praising one’s self reveals
arrogance.”
If you are working in a
team and at the end
you take all the credits
of success praising
yourself, no one will like
to work with you and
will not respect you..
SELF
PRAISE
One dirty fish infects the whole
water.
“One person’s negative or bad behaviour can
affect a whole group of people around him.”
In a society if there is a
person who has bad habit
of smoking, he will surely
have an impact on others
around him and and will
affect the whole society
as it continues. Take an
example of a rotten apple
and put it in a basket of
fresh apples. Within few
days the rotten apple will
spoil the good ones.
Do not put off till tomorrow what
you can do today.
“Do not delay or hesitate to do something if you can
finish or accomplish it today.”
As a student if you continue
to delay your work and put it
off till tomorrow, your work
will be piled up and then you
will not be able to do it. If
you do not learn your lesson
on time, at the end it will not
be possible for you to cover
the whole syllabus.
Better alone than in bad company.
“It is better to be without friends than to have friends
with bad character because we are are known by the
company we keep.”
It is better for you to stay
alone than to be in a bad
company. If you spend your
time in a bad company you
will also be considered the
same. Because you are known
by the company you keep. A
bad company will surely affect
your personality as well.
‫م‬
A thief is certainly caught atlast.
“No matter how long it takes but a person who does
wrong will be caught and will have to face the
circumstances.”
One who commits a crime or
does something wrong will be
caught at last. If you cheat
someone think that you will
never be caught then you must
know that a wrong doer can
not escape for long and sooner
or later you will have to face
the circumstances.
Prevention is better than cure.
”It is better to take precautionary measure than to
suffer pain afterwards.”
.
In this pandemic, this proverb is easily
understandable. You should take precautions which
is the only way to avoid any suffering.
• Wash your hands oftenly.
• Maintain a safe distance from anyone who is
coughing or sneezing
• Cover your nose and mouth with bent elbow or
tissue paper.
• Use face mask when you are in a crowd or not
feeling well.
Every cock fights best on his own
dunghill.
“Anybody can boast of his courage when he is at a safe
and familiar surroundings.”
When you are at a safe
and fimiliar place with
familiar people, you
seem courageous and
brave even if you are not
actually.
As soon as you are with
unfamiliar people your
cowardness reveals.
Tit for tat.
If you did bad things in the past, you will get bad results in the
future. if you did good things in the past, you will get good
results in the future .
A fox and a crane were very
good friends. One day the fox
invited the crane to lunch at his
home and served the food in a
shallow dish that crane couldn’t
eat it and left his home hungry.
The next day crane invited the
fox and served the food in a
narrow jar that fox was unable to
eat. The fox got his lesson that
he did bad to crane and in
return crane did same to him.
Health is wealth.
“The greatest wealth one can have is good health.
Health strongly influences a person’s capability to
enjoy life.”
When you are
healthy
everything seems
good around. An
unhealthy person
can never enjoy
life like a healthy
one.
Barking dogs seldom bite.
“People who threaten you or say they will do something bad
to you, rarely take action.”
Once upon a time, there was man. He was very hard on
his wife. He mercilessly used to order his wife to do
whatever he wanted her to do. He made his life miserable
by imposing on him excessive demands. He used to say,
“You better do what I tell you – or else I will do something
you won’t like. One day the wife was very tired and was on
the verge of collapse and the man started ordering around
and said, “You better do what I tell you – or else I will do
something you won’t like.” She was so exhausted that she
said,” Suppose I don’t do the work you order me to do.
Tell me, suppose I refuse to do the work you order me to
do, just what will you do that I won’t like...?” The Man
looked self-effacing at his wife and said:
“If you refuse and you don’t do the work I order you to do
... well, then I will do the work myself ...”
