How did it all begin?
∗ 50% of Indian children aged 6-18 do not go to school
∗ 53% of girls in the age group of 5 to 9 years are
illiterate.
∗ Many, many rural schools operate without a building
and toilet facilities

3. What made us start a school in Andhra Pradesh?
∗ Total number of Prostitutes in India being 2.8
million
∗ 1.2 million are child prostitutes
∗ Andhra Pradesh and West Bengal states together
account for 26% of the total number of
prostitutes in the country. This is mind-boggling!
∗ Change starts with EDUCATION!

∗ It is a burning passion in us to provide good
education to the very poor, especially girls so
that they escape the flesh trade
∗ help school drops outs to pick themselves up
and continue.
∗ Provide education for teen and youth who have
never seen the school - with no age bar

lives of our children in India, we got to give

∗ Most of the crime rates among children is
because of lack of education
∗ We got to make education attractive rather
than burdensome
∗ Under privileged kids do not have a proper

6. URGENCY OF A BUILDING
∗ Very tough to get premises on rent for free
schools for poor kids, considering the nature and
quality of kids
∗ Complicated and tedious documentations further
makes it hard to get rental premises for school
∗ We decided to have our own building that would
give shelter and education for Abide School kids

7. PRESENT ACTIVITIES OF Abide School
∗ Started Abide School on September 11, 2011
under a registered trust – ABIDE EDUCATIONAL
SOCIETY.
∗ We have received Government PERMIT for
Upper Primary school
∗ At present we have around 100 children, from
Pre-kg to standard seven
∗ Free noon meal for all kids
