The Prophet saw a funeral procession pass by and stood up out of respect. His companions informed him that it was the funeral of a Jew. The Prophet responded that whenever a funeral is seen, one should stand up as a sign of respect.

2.  Narrated Jabir bin 'Abdullah: A funeral procession
passed in front of us and the Prophet stood up and we
too stood up. We said, 'O Allah's Apostle! This is the
funeral procession of a Jew." He said, "Whenever you
see a funeral procession, you should stand up."
