BASF-YPC invested 1 billion euros to build two new production facilities for super absorbent polymers in Nanjing, China and Camacari, Brazil. WorleyParsons was chosen to provide engineering, procurement, and construction management services for the facilities based on their experience in China and Brazil and ability to provide over 550 technical specialists. To maximize cost savings, BASF-BYC decided the two facilities would utilize cloned designs and technologies.

Camacari, Brazil. These complex plants will utilize advanced new
technologies in acrylic acid processing scheduled for production in 2014.
BASF-YPC chose WorleyParsons for the FEED detail, engineering, procurement and
construction management (EPCM) of the two plants based on our significant global
presence in China and Brazil and the capability of our experienced technical specialists
which peaked at 550 during detailed design.
Due to time constraints, BASF-BYC decided to capitalize on the synergies by cloning the
two sets of plants, therefore maximizing the major cost savings and benefits in engineering,
commissioning and procurement.
