3. 1841 – Calotype Process
• •Introduced by Fox Talbot
• •Later known as the "Talbotype” process
• •This was a negative/positive process that only took a few minutes
5. 1851 – Wet Plate Collodtion
• Introduced by English sculptor Fredrick Scott Archer
• This process was done by spreading a mixture of collodion and chemicals on
sheets of glass
• Being much cheaper, this was a step in the right direction for photographic
technology
7. 1861 – Color Separation Method
• Introduced by Scottish physicist James Clerk-Maxwell
• This method was achieved by using three black and white photographs
• *Each photo must be taken using a colored filter*
• After this the photos were turned into lantern slides and projected in
registration with the same color filter
• This was important because color separation allows viewers to focus on sole
parts of an image
9. 1888 – First Simplified Camera
• Introduced by George Eastman
• The Kodak Number 1
• First general camera open for the public
• Also the first mass developing service
• This was a huge milestone for
technology everywhere
11. 1889 – Film Rolls
• The first commercial transparent roll film put out by Eastman and his team
was in 1889
• The availability of this made possible the development of Thomas Edison's
motion picture camera in 1891
• This advance made development much easier and more convenient
12. 1963 – Color Film
• Company founded by Edwin H. Land in 1937
• Developed by Polaroid
• First color instant film (Instamatic)
• Also was the first to introduce underwater photography (Nikonos)
14. 1984 – Digital Cameras
• Introduced by Canon
• This device was the first digital still camera on the market

15. 1993 – Adobe Photoshop
• Created in 1988 by Thomas and John Knoll
• This program became available for computers in 1993
• Photoshop is a graphics editing software
• Used to enhance, crop, fix, etc… Or add text to an image
• This is now one of the highest rated applications on the market now
