The intern provides a three-week progress report on work at BioSysEng Venture Capital Corporation. Over the past three weeks, the intern group met eight times to work on various tasks for designing a bioretention cell for a 2.5 acre parking lot, including calculating runoff values, finalizing a life cycle assessment, contacting a professor about native plants, testing runoff water quality, sizing the cell area, researching permeable pavement, designing the cell layout and plant positions, and continuing drawdown time calculations.

I want to report to you the progress I have made in the past three weeks at BioEng Venture
Capital Corporation.
In the past three weeks, the entire group of interns from BioSysEng Venture Capital Corporation
has met eight times.
· October 6th –Values were calculated for S, Q, and the volume of runoff from the 2.5 acre
parking lot.
· October 7th – I finalized the LCA, Brendan planned an infiltration test, Carolyn contacted
an ecology professor about native plants to use, and Karris started working on the budget.
· October 8th – We use the rainwater that was collected from the parking lot site to perform
TSS and COD tests.
· October 13th – We calculated the total area needed for the bioretention cell for a 2.5-acre
parking lot.
· October 14th –We worked on the midterm presentation and recalculated the bioretention
cell volume using an equation from an EPA standard article featuring Prince, Maryland.
Researched permeable pavement.
· October 20th – Plants were picked for the cell using the Greenville bioretention website.
· October 22nd – Designed the cell including the plant positions. Attempted to calculate the
drawdown time using the Greenville bioretention manual.
· October 27th – Continued calculations for drawdown time.
