4. ABOUT OUR SPEAKERS
Sarah May FIBMS, began her career as a biomedical scientist (cytology) and is currently IBMS
Deputy Chief Executive.
Dr Ian Locke FIBMS, Principal Lecturer in the Department of Biomedical Sciences at the University
of Westminster.
Helen Tucker FIBMS, began her career in a hospital laboratory and is now the Managed Services
Contracts Manager at Thermo Fisher Scientific.
Wendy Leversuch, began her career as a biomedical scientist (haematology) and is now Deputy
Head of Education at the IBMS.
Ali Olkun, is currently a PhD student at Middlesex University.
Mohamed Moumene and Alfred Nutakor, are both former Middlesex University undergraduates
are now MSc students at University College London.
Stephen Wordsworth CMG LVO, is Executive Director of CARA. The Council for At Risk Academics
(CARA) support academics and scientists at risk of discrimination, persecution, suffering and
violence.
