Kemaro Island is located in the middle of the Musi River in Palembang, South Sumatra. According to local legend, the island is always dry despite high water levels, giving it the name "Kemaro" which means "dry" in the local language. The legend says that in the Sriwijaya kingdom, the king's daughter Siti Fatimah fell in love with a Chinese trader named Tan Bun Ann. When Tan Bun Ann's families failed to bring the required gold dowry due to a misunderstanding, Siti Fatimah and Tan Bun Ann both drowned in the river trying to retrieve it. Their graves later formed the island now called Kemaro Island, which features tourist attractions

Within two days, the crew fixed the sailboat's rudder and put Reinhard back in the water, in an act of kindness not many captains would perform.

H.M.S. Racoon, Capt. Black, enters the mouth of teh Columbia River Nov. 30, 1913 to take possession of Astoria, during the War of 1812 !!.
I transcribed this extraordinary document a decade or so ago, from a photostatic copy held in the collection of the Oregon Historical Society. Apparently there are gaps in the text, or in the imagery of the text, or perhaps I just need to get back in and finish the job??? This is my complete effort at the time, and includes Capt. Black's description of critical repairs to teh Raccoon at at Angel Island, as well as of Mission San Francisco in early 1814, Monterey etc., and rather extensive material on Black's relationship with the Mexican government at the time... A HUGE DOCUMENT, totally underexposed...

He is primarily known for his extremely accurate maps and charts collected in his Book of Navigation. His first world map from 1513 was one of the oldest to depict the Americas. Piri Reis gained his knowledge of geography from over 20 older maps, including some by Christopher Columbus. He produced a second world map in 1528 and had a long career in the Ottoman navy, rising to the rank of admiral before his execution in the 1550s.

Htl Jenbach Karwendel
The Karwendel protected area spans 727km2 in Tyrol and 190km2 in Bavaria, making it one of the largest protected areas in the Eastern Alps, home to golden eagles, chamois, and other protected animals and plants. A Strategic Approach: GenAI in Education
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.
