6. Elizabeth Bennet
Elizabeth is the heroine of the novel .
She is the favourite character of Jane Austen.
She has soundly developed mind as well as heart.
Her might be said to be a “full personality” in spite
of one defect, namely prejudice.
7. Mr. Darcy
Darcy is the hero of the novel
His first appearance is unfavourable because he is
proud . He feels that there is hardly a woman in the
company “ whom it would not be a punishment for
him to stand up with.” This kind of behaviour shows his
pride .But with the passage of time he changes himself
and loves Elizabeth
10. Mrs. Bennet
Mother of Elizabeth
She has five daughters and she always worries about
marriages of her daughters and always in search of
suitable matches for her daughters
11. Ball Event
A Ball is a formal dance party . Social dance forms a
large part of the evening. Word Ball is derived from
Latin word Ballare meaning ‘to dance’ . In this evening
unmarried girls and boys take part in
dance in order to find a suitable match for them.
12. Wickham‘s absence
Elizabeth hopes to dance with Wickham at ball at
Netherfield but she gets disappoint when she finds
that Wickham is not present.She is told that Wickham
has had to go to town on business.
13. Mr.Collins Behaviour towards Elizabeth
Mr. Collins dances with Elizabeth two times and
remains by her side all the time and refuses to be
introduced to any other young lady or to dance with
anyone else. This kind of behaviour is very annoying to
Elizabeth. Collin‘s increasing civilities convince her that
he is considering her for his matrimonial plans.
14. Mrs. Bennet‘s announcement
The event is not in favour of Elizabeth. She feels
embarrassment when her mother announces loudly
about the possibility of Jane’s marriage with Mr.
Bingley. This announcement is too early to announce.
15. Mary’s singing
Elizabeth‘s sister Mary also ambarrasses Elizabeth by
singing loudly and too long at dinner table and boring
the entire group.
16. Summary
This event proves not good for Elizabeth due to the
reasons Mentioned above and she feels
embarrassment many times durnig the event.
