The Vasile Alecsandri National College in Bacau, Romania has been a top high school for 90 years. It currently has over 900 high school students and 150 secondary students. The school prioritizes teaching techniques and student development. It has modern facilities including laboratories for science, math, computers and languages. The school also has a European Computer Driving License center and participates in international projects. Extracurricular activities include sports teams and volunteer programs. For the upcoming year, there will be 300 openings for 9th grade across programs in English, social sciences, math and 300 openings for 5th grade.

2. Short History
Founded in 1921, “Vasile Alecsandri” National
College is for almost 90 years on top of Bacau’s
best high schools due to the teachers who always
put emphasis on the teaching-learning process
and thus, they do their best to adopt new didactic
techniques from the perspective of enhancing the
training process regarding the students’
personality.
Now, we have over 900 students at high
school and over 150 students at secondary school.

School twice.

We are one of the best
equipped schools in town. We
have:

•2 AeL (E-learning) laboratories
•8 rooms for studying foreign
languages
•2 libraries with over 3200 books
•1 gym
•1 radio station
•1 office for the school psychologist

5. A “European Computer Drivers License Centre” is functioning
within “Vasile Alecsandri” National College.
ECDL is similar for IT certifications such as TOEFL or Cambridge
certificate of language learning. ECDL permit obtained is valid for an
indefinite period. The permit gives its holder a standard basis of IT
knowledge required in the new evolving information society.

6. International Projects -
school year 2011-2012
• Jurnaliste sans frontieres (7-28 April 2012) –
for 20 days, students from Romania, Poland and Italy carried out specific
activities of the true journalists: documentary, editing, filming, editing and
subtitling. These topics were framed within a complex subject: "Democracy and its
crises”

7. We know that some extra activities besides
learning are needed for all our students to
contribute to their personal development.
Because we do care, we have teams for almost
all regional contests(both for girls and boys):
basketball team, volleyball team, handball team,
football team, table tennis team, chess team,
kayak team, athletics team.

8. And because we can’t compete without
some cheering, we have a squad of joyful
cheerleaders (by the way, they’ve won
“Best cheerleaders prize” in 2012, so they
are pretty good at what they do).

9. “A friend in need is a friend indeed”.
Because we know how important is to help
whenever we have the chance, over 250
students from our high school are involved in
such programs like ( FSC, CRE, Ingenious Drama
Association, Red Cross Romania, Antidrog and
so on).
