Finnish agri-tech startup GrainSense has developed a handheld device that can rapidly measure the protein, moisture, oil and carbohydrate content of grains and other crops directly in the field. The company has secured EUR 1.4 million in equity financing led by VTT Ventures and Berner Ltd. The funding will allow GrainSense to launch its offering in 2016 and begin marketing its device and cloud-based services to give farmers greater control over the quality and pricing of their harvests.
