The University of Memphis' Fogelman College of Business and Economics is hosting its annual Promise Day event to encourage students to succeed in their careers, education, and lifestyle choices. The event will take place tomorrow from 10:30am to 2pm and will include activities showcasing the benefits of maintaining emotional, fiscal, mental, physical and social health, as well as a rock wall, bounce house, live entertainment, and healthy meals. The event celebrates the Complete Professional Program's goal of helping students succeed in business and life by committing to do their best and make positive contributions while achieving their full potential.

In this talk we’ll look at software from many different perspectives, and while we’re zooming in and out, we’ll discover some of the deeper principles that lie beneath proper object-oriented design. They are the foundation of many of the well-known design patterns and they may even serve as an explanation for code smells.
