The power law model is used to represent the class of non-Newtonian fluids (shear-thinning and shear-thickening fluids) by considering a range of 0.8 to 1.6. PHYSIOLOGICAL NON-NEWTONIAN BLOOD FLOW THROUGH SINGLE STENOSED ARTERY
Abstract. A numerical simulation to investigate the Non-Newtonian modeling effects on physiological flows in a three dimensional idealized artery with a single stenosis of 85% severity is given. The wall vessel is considered to be rigid. Oscillatory physiological and parabolic velocity profile has been imposed for inlet boundary condition. Determination of the physiological waveform is performed using a Fourier series with sixteen harmonics. The investigation has a Reynolds number range of 96 to 800. Low Reynolds number k − ω model is used as governing equation. The investigation has been carried out to characterize two Non-Newtonian constitutive equations of blood, namely, (i) Carreau and (ii) Cross models. The Newtonian model has also been investigated to study the physics of fluid. The results of Newtonian model are compared with the Non-Newtonian models. The numerical results are presented in terms of velocity, pressure, wall shear stress distributions and cross sectional velocities as well as the streamlines contour. At early systole pressure differences between Newtonian and Non-Newtonian models are observed at pre-stenotic, throat and immediately after throat regions. In the case of wall shear stress, some differences between Newtonian and Non-Newtonian models are observed when the flows are minimum such as at early systole or diastole. In general, the velocities at throat regions are highest at all-time phase. However, at pick systole higher velocities are observed at post-stenotic region. Downstream flow of all models creates some recirculation regions at diastole.

Abstract: the pressure drop in combined sections tapered and circular for the flow of polypropylene were
studied both analytical and simulation under isothermal and no-slip condition in the die wall. The predicted
pressure drop values are compared with three-dimensional (3D) finite element simulation to identify effect of
contraction angles, die land and radius on pressure drop. The governing equation of pressure drop was first
derived to angle of tapered section, for circular section the pressure drop was studied using different die lands
and radii .The three parameters were varied in the ansys Polyflow at specified polymer flow rate and the results
are compared with analytical results .For the tapered section the best angle is analytically and for
the simulation. For circular section of the die the results for die lands variations are almost the same but when
varying the varying the radius the results differ at radii less than 2 cm and approach each other at 2 cm and

LATTICE BOLTZMANN SIMULATION OF NON-NEWTONIAN FLUID FLOW IN A LID DRIVEN CAVITY
Lattice Boltzmann Method (LBM) is used to simulate the lid driven cavity flow to explore the mechanism of non-Newtonian fluid flow. The power law model is used to represent the class of non-Newtonian fluids (shear-thinning and shear-thickening fluids) by considering a range of 0.8 to 1.6. Investigation is carried out to study the influence of power law index and Reynolds number on the variation of velocity profiles and streamlines plots. Velocity profiles and the streamline patterns
for various values of power law index at Reynolds numbers ranging 100 to 3200 are presented. Half way bounce back boundary conditions are employed in the numerical method.

PHYSIOLOGICAL NON-NEWTONIAN BLOOD FLOW THROUGH SINGLE STENOSED ARTERY
Abstract. A numerical simulation to investigate the Non-Newtonian modeling effects on physiological flows in a three dimensional idealized artery with a single stenosis of 85% severity is given. The wall vessel is considered to be rigid. Oscillatory physiological and parabolic velocity profile has been imposed for inlet boundary condition. Determination of the physiological waveform is performed using a Fourier series with sixteen harmonics. The investigation has a Reynolds number range of 96 to 800. Low Reynolds number k − ω model is used as governing equation. The investigation has been carried out to characterize two Non-Newtonian constitutive equations of blood, namely, (i) Carreau and (ii) Cross models. The Newtonian model has also been investigated to study the physics of fluid. The results of Newtonian model are compared with the Non-Newtonian models. The numerical results are presented in terms of velocity, pressure, wall shear stress distributions and cross sectional velocities as well as the streamlines contour. At early systole pressure differences between Newtonian and Non-Newtonian models are observed at pre-stenotic, throat and immediately after throat regions. In the case of wall shear stress, some differences between Newtonian and Non-Newtonian models are observed when the flows are minimum such as at early systole or diastole. In general, the velocities at throat regions are highest at all-time phase. However, at pick systole higher velocities are observed at post-stenotic region. Downstream flow of all models creates some recirculation regions at diastole.

Abstract: the pressure drop in combined sections tapered and circular for the flow of polypropylene were
studied both analytical and simulation under isothermal and no-slip condition in the die wall. The predicted
pressure drop values are compared with three-dimensional (3D) finite element simulation to identify effect of
contraction angles, die land and radius on pressure drop. The governing equation of pressure drop was first
derived to angle of tapered section, for circular section the pressure drop was studied using different die lands
and radii .The three parameters were varied in the ansys Polyflow at specified polymer flow rate and the results
are compared with analytical results .For the tapered section the best angle is analytically and for
the simulation. For circular section of the die the results for die lands variations are almost the same but when
varying the varying the radius the results differ at radii less than 2 cm and approach each other at 2 cm and
above. Index Terms: Tapered die, circular section, pressure drop, Polyflow.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE September 28, 2011 - Spring 2012 ART = LIBÉRATION Gauvreau/Carreau 2002 Automatist Pierre Gauvreau (1922-2011) & Janine Carreau “La jeunesse est en nous et nous sommes la jeunesse” (Claude Gauvreau) Automatist, Pierre Gauvreau was part of a circle of young artists from various discipines who gravitated around painter Paul Emile-Borduas in 1940’s Montreal. Together the Automatists revolutionized painting in restrictive Quebec of the Duplessis years. Inspired by the Surrealists, they found freedom of expression in abstraction pursued through automatism: an instinctive, unpremeditated form of creating art. Their manifesto Refus global (1948) is widely recognized as a crucial expression of Quebec modernism and the unrest that would eventually lead to the so-called ‘Quiet Revolution.’ Pierre Gauvreau was very active in the production of the manifesto and eventually in defending it publicly against attacks by the clergy and newspaper columnists. - Curator Ray Ellenwood, on the Automatists. Pierre Gauvreau died on April 7th, 2011, and would have just passed his 90th birthday when Art = Libération was slated to open. Pierre’s wife Janine Carreau devoloped her own career as a painter and photographer while combining energies with her husband for more than 35 years. For Pierre Gauvreau and Janine Carreau, the Automatist style has produced an aesthetic of exuberance - use of vibrant colours and textures demonstrate their celebration of life and of freedom from the strict cleric culture of mid-century Quebec. Hosted by Baron Gallery in Gastown, the exhibition features a selection of 47 works curated by long time friend to the artists, Ray Ellenwood, author of Egregore: A History of the Montréal Automatist Movement, and The Automatiste Revolution. Opening night: 7pm Thursday October 13, 2011 Refreshments will be served Janine Carreau and Ray Ellenwood will be present.
